The Hyundai Koreans have presented the first official photographs and details of the upcoming Ioniq 6 electric sedan. However, the manufacturer has only revealed information on the design of the second zero-emission variant in the Ioniq series. The technical specs will be displayed on July 14.

It is common knowledge that the 2023 Ioniq 6 electric car will retail for less than its eventual competitor, the Tesla Model 3. This suggests a price of fewer than 45,000 euros for the entry-level variant with rear-wheel drive.

The electric car's debut and the manufacturing commencement were delayed by nearly three months. This was because CEO Chung Eui-sun had requested modifications to the building's façade and interior.

The Koreans have not revealed many specifics yet, but we know that the automobile is constructed on the E-GMP platform. It is the same architecture used by the Ioniq 5 and the KIA EV6.

The new Hyundai Ioniq 6 electric sedan was predicted by the Prophecy concept, revealed two years ago. Aesthetically, the new Ioniq 6 does not differ much from it, but it carries with it Porsche models, especially at the back. Under the back window is the aileron, and below that is another ducktail-shaped part that fits in with the rest of the body.

Also recognizable are the dazzling elements of the front and rear Parametrix Pixel, the doors with hidden handles, and the digital external mirrors. The latter will be made accessible solely in those countries where it is legally sanctioned.

The appearance is complemented with massive asymmetrical design rims, probably 19 or 20 inches. Hyundai engineers also concentrated on aerodynamics, a chapter in which the Ioniq 6 is superb. The coefficient Cx is only 0.21.

There is no information about the interior yet. But, in the published photographs, you can see two 12-inch displays, one for the instrument panel and the other for the infotainment system.

We also find a multifunctional steering wheel with two spokes and a 64-color ambient light system. For example, the US version will have traditional rear-view mirrors, so there will be no specific displays at the ends of the dashboard.

From a technical point of view, the new Ioniq 6 electric sedan will offer models with one or two electric motors. The electric engines will provide roughly 300 hp and all-wheel drive. A 77.4 kWh battery will also be part of the package. The 800-volt charging system is a part of the E-GMP EV design.

In terms of dimensions, the model measures 4.86 meters in length, 1.88 meters in width, and 1.5 meters in height. These dimensions are similar to those of other electric sedans such as the Mercedes-Benz EQE, Porsche Taycan, and Audi e-Tron GT.

The new Hyundai Ioniq 6 electric car will make its commercial debut in the US in the first half of 2023. In time, the Korean electric vehicle will make its way to the continent of Europe.

The Asian conglomerate plans to invest $5.5 billion in establishing the world's first dedicated electric vehicle manufacturing facility. It will be developed near the city of Savannah (Georgia, USA) and produce up to six electric vehicles for the North American market by 2028. These include the future Ioniq 7, which will debut in 2024, and a pick-up KIA, which will go on sale in the first half of 2026.
