Actor Hannes Jaenicke and about 20 of his film and TV industry peers set sail on wind-powered sailing ships to visit the most important sites for marine protection in Greece's Saronic Gulf to begin the Pelorus Jack Ocean Trophy. On June 19th, 2022, it will start.

Around 20 famous people, including Grimme Prize winner and actress Marie Bäumer, Harry Potter narrator Rufus Beck, and German TV award winner Birge Schade, are on board. To reach the regatta, sailors must travel overland from Munich to the Greek port city of Piraeus, approximately 2,500 kilometers. There are a lot of Peugeot 308 SW HYBRIDs and Peugeot 3008 HYBRIDs. In addition, Peugeot acknowledges the Pelorus Jack Ocean Trophy, named after the same-name foundation, in collaboration with its partners Beneteau, one of the world's largest yacht builders, and Marinepool, a leading manufacturer of maritime safety clothing.

According to Peugeot Germany's MD, Haico van der Luyt: "We are delighted to be able to realize the Pelorus Jack Ocean Trophy together with our partners." Through this event, Peugeot aims to raise awareness of the importance of protecting our oceans and the surrounding environment. In addition, Peugeot is combining the flexibility of sailing with the cutting-edge technology of our models for this trip.

Pelorus and Jack Ocean Trophy competitors are spending a week on the road. During this time, they can use the Peugeot electrified models, which are designed for emissions-free driving. Then, in the final act, sailing ships powered by the wind take to the water.

German actor and documentary maker Hannes Jaenicke established Pelorus Jack. Peugeot partnered with him to host the Ocean Trophy, an event to raise awareness for marine conservation. In this way, the unique characteristics of the natural world and the complex relationships between humans and their surroundings are made crystal clear.
